second december post.

this is the second december post. im trying to get bonus points for doing two whole posts in one month. The holidays are fast approaching. Plans are being made. My parents are in Morrocco and then are coming to Paris. My brother is rendez-vous'ing' with us there. Then we go to Strasbourg, then back to Blois. Then they go back to the states, and I go to London for new years with Meredith and some other assistants.
The last couple of weeks have been fun. They included a trip out to the gendronniere, getting my scooter's kickstand bent back into place and the carborator cleaned out.
I have been hanging out with at the assistant's house more. We eat stirfry and watch movies pretty regularly...our last flic was 'Coming to America' which ended at four in the morning.

i have christmas dinners lined up from tuesday on past the new years...the french like to eat.

December, a scooter, and a trip to Paris

hello, wow- how things change.
Winter break is only a couple of weeks away. there is a light at the end of the tunnel. today is a wednesday so I don't have classes (primary schools don't have school on wednesdays) and i'm catching up on things.

i went to Paris last weekend with three other assistants. we went to a concert on a pirate ship on the seine. the band was a french funk band. they played many originals and a few classics, including sly & the family stone. we stayed in a hostel that was a little bit scary- our original hostel that we wanted to stay at was 'complet'.
the next day went up on the eiffel tower- it was very windy and the top was closed, but we went to the second floor, and i could see all around- to the 11 rue de siam. i had never realized how big the arch de triomphe was before.

then we met up with thomas and got out of the rain and wind for a little while where i had a really good salad with chevre chaud. From there we decided to profit from the first sunday of the month when all the museums in paris are free, and we went to the musee d'orsay. Enjoyed seeing the impressionists- it's an incredibly dense four or five rooms of paintings.. then went and got a warm drink at a cafe. I had my first 'knock me on my ass' mouse au chocolat there.

after that we caught the train back to blois in the afternoon.

in other news: i bought a scooter to get around a little bit. its a 50cm2 engine, two seater from peugot. it's nice for going to soccer, schools, the supermarket, and out to the temple. other than purely utility functions, it is fun to ride.
